Itinerary:

Description:

Join Gabrielle and Peter for a weekend of easy turns along the Icefield Parkway! This is a beginner to intermediate trip for alpine ski touring and/or split boarding based out of Mosquito Creek Wilderness Hostel. We will be on snow Saturday and Sunday, with daily objective determined based on the group, weather and snow conditions.

 

This trip will accommodate up to 6 participants (including the trip leaders) in shared sleeping, cooking, and lounging areas.

Hut fees are $80 per person at maximum occupancy. Payment will be expected in full upon acceptance. Payment will be non-refundable unless a suitable replacement can be found 1 week prior to departure.

 

AST1 is a minimum pre-requisite, but some backcountry experience is recommended.  Participants will be selected at the discretion of the trip leader. This trip is opened to members only.


Please provide a short description of your ski touring and downhill skiing abilities, along with the relevant courses you have taken (including when you took AST1) in the "Notes" box when signing up.

Itinerary:

Friday March 24: Carpool to Mosquito Creek Hostel, arriving by 9 pm at the latest

Saturday March 25: Day trip*

Sunday March 26: Day trip*. Plan to be back at the car around 3 pm and return to Edmonton

 

*: Daily objectives and start time will be determined based on the group, weather and snow conditions.

Required Items to Bring:

Ski/Splitboard

Skins

Ski Poles

Beacon/Shovel/Probe

Small blister kit

Small repair kit

Ski Clothes, Hut Comfy stuff, etc.


Recommended Items to Bring:

Sleeping bag, food, and good attitude!


We can chat about the possibility of potluck dinners and carpooling once the group is finalized.

Notes:

This trip will be co-lead by Peter Bezeau. He is not on the list of active trip leaders, but has extensive backcountry skiing experience.




*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Edmonton Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
