Itinerary:
Join the Alpine Club of Canada (Edmonton Section) and local Canmore mountain athlete Adam Mertens as he shares the story behind the Bow Valley Cirque. The Cirque is a 150 km human-powered, multi-day mountain adventure that blends trail running, scrambling, and technical climbing into a continuous high traverse around Canmore and Banff.

Inspired by the growing popularity of mountain running and the endless potential for creative endurance challenges in the Bow Valley, this project was years in the making. It connects classic routes like the Rundle Traverse with lesser-traveled ridgelines and technical summits, forming a skyline circuit unlike anything previously completed in the region.

After an initial attempt in 2024 was cut short, Adam revisited the project this year with renewed focus, deeper route knowledge, and a commitment to both safety and pushing personal limits. Adam will take us inside the process — from dreaming up the line to navigating risk, doubt, and fatigue high above the valley floor.
Notes:

Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

Attendees will receive 25% at Fjallraven for the evening!
