Want to get into ski mountaineering, but looking
for an opportunity to learn the necessary glacier and rope skills under the
expert instruction of a guide? Opportunity for a three-day training-focused
introduction to ski mountaineering (dates/trip is tentative at this point – can
only be confirmed once a minimum of four people have committed to the course) An approximate itinerary: Day 1: Full Day of Crevasse Rescue Systems - condensed version of
2-day Crevasse Rescue Systems Course Day 2: Little Crowfoot or similar as the objective - glacier travel and
morphology in context (+ quick companion rescue practice in the AM prior to ski
touring) Day 3: Ski Mountaineering Objective (Cirque North Couloir, Mt Hector,
Observation Sub Peak North Glacier, Molar Glacier) - applying the learned
skills to a Ski Mountaineering objective (conditions allowing), with student
leads encouraged + debrief of the course with next steps outlined for
progression in ski mountaineering Home Base: HI Alpine Hostel Lake Louise (suggested – not included in
cost) Prerequisites: Some touring experience; AST1; ability to cover 15-20km in travel
distance, with 1000-1500m of elevation gain; strong base of fitness (3-3.5km/h
skin track pace with hourly breaks for 7-8 hours); ability to descend with confidence any black or
double black rated terrain in variable snow conditions within the bounds
of a ski resort Guide to Guest Ratio: 4-6 people Price: exact pricing is dependent on the final number of people booking, with
the price including guiding fees, guide's transportation to the venue(s), and

later date (at a minimum, must have own touring gear – ski mountaineering technical
