Itinerary:

Jan 17 - Leave Edmonton by 6am (Ideally), drive to Waterton. Carpooling in 2 vehicles if possible. Lunch on the road. Arrive at the park around 12:30pm. Park, unload, and set off on approach to Cabin. Must pack in/pack out your own gear. Arrive at cabin around 5:30pm. Warm up the cabin, Dinner #1 and settle into the cabin. 


Jan 18th - Ski Day #1.

Breakfast #1

Objective will be set by available terrain choices based on conditions. Group Decision Making will be the standard. Length of day based on group. Lunch #1 on the mountain. Return to Cabin.

Dinner #2, Unwind


Jan 19th - Ski Day #2

Breakfast #2

Objective will be set by available terrain choices based on conditions. Group Decision Making will be the standard. Length of day based on group. Lunch #1 on the mountain. Return to Cabin.

Dinner #3, Prepare gear/pack up. Cleanup cabin.


Jan 20th - Return Day

Breakfast #3

Close up cabin and head out by 8am. 

Return to vehicles and return home safe. 


Required Items to Bring:

Outdoor outerwear, touring equipment, headlamp, food and related items, Avalanche probe/beacon/shovel, Backpack (touring pack), sleeping bag/pillow, cloths, first aid kit, water bottle, personal medical items. 


Recommended Items to Bring:

Extra Gloves, Helmet, skin wax, Extra Ski Poles, repair tools/parts, cabin slippers


How to Get There:
Event Directions:  

Waterton Nation Park townsite will be the start of the access. Cameron Lake via the akamina road is Approximately 15km to the cabin. 

 

Notes:

Expenses

  • Breakfast and Dinner is ideally split to make things easier. With 6 people, each person would supply 1 meal for the group (either breakfast or dinner). Please share your food sensitivities/allergies with the group in advance. 
  • Gas/mileage to be split equally. Carpooling if desired to save. 
  • Hut Booking - $150/person for the weekend ($50/night/person)

Emergency

  • Minimum 1 pull sled for self evac if required. 
  • Emergency response device required
  • Share with group of any medical condition that may require assistance or serious allergies. 


Group Sizing

During ski days, If not in 1 large group, smaller groups must know each others objectives/area for the day in case of emergency. Radios recommended. 

Minimum group size is 2 people. 


Terrain Choices

The burn area provides lots of open glades if they are filled in. Higher elevation options available if desired. 

Avalanche terrain is crossed during approach and exit on Akamina road. 

Split boarders and Skiers welcome



Full $150 deposit for hut booking required.
