Sean Prockter's Backcountry Skills Program

This is the other signup.

Avi awareness, terrain analysis, track setting

During covid times he had this listed as $325 each for 2 days in a group setting.

During 2023 I reached out and he wasn't running it and only had one other interested person. He said if there was a group put together then he would be able to run it. So I'm uncertain of the exact pricing/discount or timing. He is based out of Jasper and operates Jasper Hikes and Tours. It is more of a niche course and I'm guessing it's between AST1 and AST2. So please ensure you'll have at least AST1 in time.

I can see how others could benefit from this. If I'm trudging up to an ice climb, for instance, maybe I'm not on skis but I do want an efficient and safe line getting there rather than being gassed. So if you can ski then sign up for skiing. If there's no way you can ski then sign up for the other one and I'll try to get something in the works. As usual, I'm slow so it'll be a slow paced day and sign ups should expect as much.

As I read in The Art of Up-Tracking Handbook there is a fair bit to learn about setting tracks. But learning from a book isn't the same as hands on experience and how to apply it in the field.

So if you're interested then sign on up. As things get closer to next winter I'll reach out to everyone on the waitlist and Sean to set everything up.

I've put this on fully waitlisted for now. :)
