Itinerary: |
Night of April 10 stay at Lake Louise hostel. April 11 Bow Hut. April 12 Balfour Hut. April 13 Scott Duncan Hut. April 14 exit and return to Edmonton.

Required Items to Bring: |
Backcountry skiing gear in good repair. Avalanche kit including modern 3 antenna transceiver, probe and shovel. Glacier harness and crevasse rescue equipment. Group rope (min 60 m) or ropes (2-3 x 30 m). Map, compass, GPS or phone with mapping app. Sleeping bag. Ski leashes. One emergency communicator in the group. One VHF radio in the group. Sun/extreme cold protection for face. Sunglasses or goggles.

Recommended Items to Bring: |
Ice axe and crampons if climbing opportunities become available. Ski crampons are nice if snow is frozen. Ice screws are handy if required to anchor in ice. Additional VHF radios for group communication. Charging block for phones if used for navigation. Helmet.

Notes: |
Early April conditions on the Wapta could be anything between extreme cold to warm and sunny. Please bring clothing and cold/sun protection for either. Bring extra food in case of an unexpected stay in one of the huts if conditions deteriorate.

Participants to abide by the ACC hut cancellation policy which provides none to partial refunds only. Cancellation of the trip or a portion of the trip may be required due to poor weather, injury or mishap, or dangerous avalanche conditions.
