Itinerary:
Look friends, it's early, the snowpack frankly isn't quite there yet, but it could get there.   Maybe we get to ski laps, maybe we just go for a walk and enjoy a beverage and a board game or two.  Either way, we'll be in the mountains together and it'll be awesome.

This is a beginner oriented trip for **HOPEFUL** alpine ski touring and/or split boarding based out of Hilda Creek Wilderness Hostel.  We plan to carpool where possible, travelling on Friday evening -expect a short tour **OR WALK?** (200m) into the hut in the dark (or two or three such trips, depending how many comforts you chose to bring).
We will be on snow Saturday and Sunday, likely in various areas adjacent to the hostel (e.g. Parker Ridge, Hilda Ridge, Boundary Lake, etc) but other nearby driving options along 93N could be considered pending conditions and appetite.  AST1 is a recommended pre-requisite, but no backcountry experience is required to attend.
Refer to ‘Summits & Icefields 1: Alpine Ski Tours in the Canadian Rockies’ by Chic Scott for additional details about these terrain options and others.
Hut details are at https://hihostels.ca/en/destinations/alberta/hi-hilda-creek
This trip will accommodate 4-6 participants in shared sleeping, cooking, and lounging areas.  There is no running water, electricity, or cell service at the hostel.
Participants will be selected at the discretion of the trip leader.
Hut fees are $96 per person at maximum occupancy (6 participants).
Required Items to Bring:

Hardware: Helmet. Avalanche safety equipment (beacon, shovel, probe) [note this is available to borrow through club with advance notice to trip leader].

Software: Attitude that includes sportsmanship, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship.

Recommended Items to Bring:

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Edmonton Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
