Itinerary:

I have booked a block of campsites at Kinky Lake in the Wildhorse Lake Provincial Recreation area.  You can camp there with some GMMC members or arrange your own stay elsewhere.  Meet at the Trailhead at 9:30am July 1 if not camping at Kinky Lake.

There is a hike group as well as a climb group.  We will all take the trail to Juno wall and the hike group will do some exploring along Syncline Ridge.  The hike group will return before 4 pm to collect the climbers and we will return to the roadside for return to our camps.

We plan to have supper at camp and possibly travel to Jasper for the fireworks in the evening.

Sunday is most likely a hike up Sulpher Skyline trail with a stop at Miette Hotsprings before the drive home.

Required Items to Bring:

Helmet, shoes, harness for climbing.  I will have a couple ropes and anchor packs.  You can bring your own if you prefer.

Recommended Items to Bring:

Rain gear, lunch, water.  be prepared for a full day at the crag.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Drive 12.5 km west from the Jasper Park East gate.  Park at the pullout on your right, just before the bridge.  there will be a fractured cliff to the immediate south.

If you want to camp at Kinky lake, drive 25 km west of Hinton.  look for a turn off heading north.  The turn will have the WildHorse Rec area sign.  continue along the road until the Kinky Lake turn, just before Wild Horse Campground.

Notes:

If you are staying at Kinky Lake, pay the trip coordinator directly for the campground fees.

This is a combined trip with our GMMC partners.

If you are Rock Climbing, you must have top rope certification with a city gym.  You should be able to top rope a 5.10 pitch.

There is no fee to attend the climb or hike.   Pay the Trip Lead directly if you plan on camping at Kinky Lake.

You can attend the hike if you prefer, I'll check in with participants as you sign up.

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Edmonton Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
