Itinerary:

If you've learned to lead in the gym, come on out to Jasper and take your fun up a notch! This trip will focus on learning to lead on real rock, setting and clearing anchors, etc. If you aren't up for leading but want to climb outdoors, we'll have opportunity for toproping as well. We will climb at one of several crags in the Jasper area with bolted sport routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.10, so you'll find something in your comfort zone. Or not, as you prefer! We'll have an intro session Friday evening at Michele and Lee's campsite, going over what hardware you'll encounter on the crag and practicing anchor setting on a board. Saturday and Sunday will be climbing; specific crags TBA. Participants will arrange their own accommodations; Michele and I will be camping at Whistlers.

Required Items to Bring:

Sunscreen
Insect repellent
Lunch
Water – we recommend bringing a full liter, as it gets pretty dry up there
Chapstick
Rain jacket
Climbing shoes, chalk bag, harness, belay device

Stick clip if you have one
Helmet – definitely! The local sheep have a tendency to dislodge missiles from above. If you listen carefully you can hear them snickering.
First aid kit
Sunglasses

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Edmonton Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
