Let's climb some rock!
The plan is to crag in the David Thompson Corridor (Nordegg Area). Crags will be chosen closer to the trip date and will be tailored to final group composition and interests.
Crag options for this trip include: -Darkside (5.8-5.12+) -Little Russia (5.6-5.12+) -Waterknot Wall (5.8-5.12+) -Abraham Slabs (5.5-5.11+) - if higher number of newer outdoor climbers
Note - we will aim to accommodate all skill levels (including never ever outdoor climbers!) and encourage an open, peer-supported learning environment. How we go about that will depend on the final group. Open to splitting into two groups/two crags one of the days.
The only skill prerequisite for this trip is the ability and knowledge needed to safely belay.
Accommodations:
Trip coordinators will be camping at a designated crown land camping spot on Abraham Lake. Anyone is welcome to join (no booking necessary - precise location will be shared prior to the weekend).
If camping isn't your cup of tea, there is a hotel in Nordegg and hostel at Shunda Creek (google 'HI-Shunda Creek Hostel'). Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations and transportation. Though we will create a group chat a couple weeks prior to the trip where carpooling and accommodations can be coordinated.
